Our Daytona Journey

Bro. Randy and myself left Asheville, NC on Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 for an extended stay at Daytona International Speedway.

Our involvement there was assisting in Ministering alongside ARCA Chaplain David Giles Thursday-Saturday (16th - 18th. It was so good to see some of the  UARA Alumni there, especially to see 2011 UARA Champion Brennan Poole who will be running a full ARCA Schedule in 2012. On Sunday, we attended the early service at Calvary Christian Center of Ormond Beach, Fl. It was Throwback Sunday and the service was Awesome! After the service we went to lunch and then to the Sprint Cup 2012 Daytona "Time" Qualifying on Sunday, the 19th.

On Tuesday, we hooked up with the fine folks of Calvary Christian Center. They graciously provided us lodging and two meals each day  for our second week of ministry, what a Blessing they were to Randy and myself.

The Infield Ministry is led by Outreach Pastor Jennifer Wood, and assistant Pastor Shirley. Pastor Jen is also a member of Raceway Ministries as well.  Founding Pastor Frank of King of Glory Bikers Ministry came along side Calvary to provide a prayer tent, 24-hour security and a steady flow of coffee! Pastor Frank was also indeed a Blessing!

We assisted the Infield Ministry, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, we went into the NASCAR Truck Gargage/Pit Road Area to assist MROA Truck Chaplain Jim Lanning. During the time before Qualifying, Chapel Service and Race, Randy  and myself had opportunity to talk and pray with some of the UARA Alumni now running in the Truck Series.  UARA Alumni Driver John King and I talked in the garage area about how God has blessed him with a great opportunity with Red Horse Racing, he acknowledged his blessings!  Later, had prayer with John before Driver Intros and only the Lord knew that he would win the Daytona Truck race!  There was also another miraculous answer to pray, we had with another UARA Alumni Truck owner facing financial crisis in the area of sponsorship. Within a half hour, he came and told me about a confirmation phone call on a substantial sponsorship amount with a promise of more after that!  God cares about needs for the Dreams He gives His children!  This young driver qualified and finished well in the Race!  Chaplain Jim had an awesome Chapel Service and is doing an awesome job as Chaplain!  To God be the Glory, great things, He has done!

Due to inclement weather Sunday when the 500 was cancelled. We looked at the possible extended delay that could go into Tuesday, so we Praised the Lord for all the people we had met and the awesome priviledge to minister to! Then  we decided to end our 13 day ministry time and return to Asheville on Monday morning.

Below is a pictorial report of our Daytona stay.
